Services - Strategic Execution/Implementation As a matter of course, any strategic implementation/effective execution involves some level of change. With change being the only constant today, understanding it requires a more diagnostic approach to the many issues involved and an integrated plan to move the organization. The implications are that the organization itself, its parts and their relationships will change - simultaneously, sequentially and/or evolutionarily. Thus, recognizing the larger context at three levels is essential: Strategic (directional), Organizational (cultural/ people), and Operational (structural/processes). A “big picture” viewpoint – a balanced and integrated context of issues and considerations for effective change management/transformation and strategic implementation is required. The complete strategic framework, with both major and supporting strategic components, is the backdrop and launching off point into implementation. All successful strategic implementation considers and incorporates the principles of change management. It also requires a purposeful first step of Educating, Organizing and Planning. Strategic execution is also best accomplished using a Strategic Management System – one which translates the strategy to operational terms and aligns the organization to the strategy. Linking the strategy to individual performance and clear organizational measures is mandatory. A solid performance management system keeps the dialogue alive, highlights learning and helps link behavior with performance – anchoring change in the culture. It requires clear and constant communication. Business planning and budgeting, when linked to the strategy, is impactful, makes sense, informs resource allocation and strengthens organizational alignment.
