Coaching is about getting the most out of one’s life, including fulfillment and balance. A professional coach helps individuals articulate their personal and professional goals and objectives, and then helps them focus and perform in reaching those goals.

The goal of executive coaching is the goal of good management: to make the most of an organization’s valuable resources. Fundamentally, it’s about supporting an executive in being more effective and enhancing his/her performance. Even the strongest performers need assistance. Coaching is as much about ensuring success as it is about staving off failure.

Reasons/issues that prompt an executive to seek a coach include: quality of work life, a particular skill or capability that needs strengthening, a new position, new challenges in a current position, specific and/or difficult organizational relationships.

Several types of executives can benefit from coaching: the High Performance executives - those who are already doing quite well and would benefit from some focused attention to help fine tune their performance and ready them for the next level; the Newly Hired executives – both an innovative recruitment perk and an excellent opportunity to sharpen skills early in a career; the Near Burn Out executives - individuals who having shown themselves to be quite capable, but need some critical-care attention to help re-energize them before it’s too late.

Of course, executives who direct, manage and/or supervise others are particularly ripe for coaching due to the fact that their decisions and actions affect so many others. In fact, professionals across all fields increasingly cite their immediate manager’s skills (or lack thereof) as a major reason for staying or moving on.

Each coaching engagement is customized to the individual, with an initial in-take session and either in person or on the phone sessions. (360 degree feedback and assorted assessment tools may also be administered). Frequency and length of sessions may vary, and all coaching engagements begin with a six month commitment.
